Community Needs Assessment

In order to impact the direction of this movement, we need to gather real-time data on the
needs of the grassroots community within the psychedelic movement.

Data is power.

ABOUT THE SURVEY

1. SITUATION

The Natural Medicine Health Act is supporting ballot initiative 58 in Colorado, a state-wide initiative to regulate and decriminalize natural medicines including psilocybin, ibogaine, DMT, and peyote (not including mescaline). This will revolutionize the relationship between plant medicine and the people of Colorado. This ballot initiative is unique in that it creates a hybrid framework for state regulated use alongside protections for personal use.

2. PROBLEM

We have little adequate, quantifiable data around the grassroots psychedelic community desires’ and needs’ regarding how this initiative ought to be implemented. We have examples of how to implement a regulated access model from Oregon, however, the personal use component of the initiative is completely novel.

The rest of the United States will be looking towards Colorado and Oregon as examples to learn from when it comes to policy reform in psychedelic legislation. And yet, the grassroots community does not have visibility into the rooms with elected officials and policy makers.

3. SOLUTION

In order for the grassroots psychedelic community to (a) be in a position to influence and impact laws and regulations around the implementation of initiative 58, and (b) be in a position to benefit from initiative 58, we need to collect the voices, needs, and desires of this community and amalgamate them into a robust and unique data set that will inform the implementation of initiative 58.
